At Beachbody Summit 2014 the NEWEST program by Chalene Johnson was released which is her PiYo workout that she has been teaching for several years. It’s a workout for those that are looking for an ultra lean and intensely defined physique without bulking up or staining your joints.

Why did Chalene Johnson create this workout?

Chalene Johnson explains:

Whenever I create a fitness program I start with a need. I was doing yoga, but I still felt like I needed to stretch certain areas, do more cardio, and lift more weights. So, I started to think, “How can I get more flexible and develop strength and cardio?”

What if I’m new to working out?

No problem! The workouts are modified…. and by modified they mean EVERY SINGLE MOVE, so you can start sculpting from the first day you #PUSHPLAY!

They have done some cool things with the camera angles so it is very clear how to do each move. In the videos there are people doing the workouts at different angles (front and side) so it makes it easy to see exactly what is going on so you can do the exercises properly.

What is included in the PiYo Workout kit?

The workout kit contains 8 workouts, plus a bonus workout that you get when ordering through your coach.

What workouts are included with the PiYo base kit?

Align: The Fundamentals (46 mins) – Learn the basics of PiYo terminology, proper alignment and available modifications at the same time that Chalene takes you through a strengthening flow that will have your body pumping!

Define: Upper Body focused workout (20 mins) will strengthen and stretch your entire body, while building on the movement patterns you have learned in Align. You’ll be chiseling and shaping your arms and upper body as well as sculpting your shoulders.

Define: Lower Body (25 mins) will shape and tone everything from your glutes, hamstrings, quads and calves gently, yet effectively to help you get sleek and lean legs.

Sweat (35 mins) is a traditional PiYo Workout that is fast paced with body weight strength training and ab work! It incorporates effective dynamic conditioning, body weight resistance and strength training, fast paced cardio yoga-flows and powerful athletic moves in just one workout.

Core: An amazing 30 minute Core workout that will hit every muscle in your POWERHOUSE! You’ll hit every angle of your abs, obliques and even strengthen your back.

PiYo Sculpt (30 mins) uses body weight to generate muscular endurance to stimulate metabolic changes to totally and utterly transform your figure! You’ll use various tempos to keep your muscles under tension for longer periods of time.

Strength Intervals (25 mins): 25 minutes is all you need of this body carving, calorie incinerating workout! Since there is no equipment that means no bulk. These heart-rate elevating athletic moves will melt away fat and promote long lean muscle development.

Drench (45 mins): This workout not only leaves you drenched, but your metabolism will have been kick-started to ensure you scorch away fat! Inclueds a warmup, stretch of upper and lower body as well as a power section to up your heart rate. Great for muscle endurance, balance and flexibility.
