My P90X3 Transformation Vlog Week 6

This is my second week of block 2 for P90X3. Loving the upper body Eccentric Upper and Incinerator workouts. I increased my weights this week and really pushed myself. Hurt myself playing hockey at the end of the week so MMX got pushed back a week and was only done with one arm. Most times if you have an injury you can find a workout that you won’t have to modify too much.

Day 36

Eccentric Upper from P90X3 today. It’s Day 36. Shoulders are on fire. I used double the weight I used last week by accident. Goes to show you that you can always do more than you think you can.

Some interesting brain facts I heard in a video this weekend. Your brain is made up of 80% water, so drink lots of water. You use 7% more of your brain by standing. Some people are walking for meetings and using stand up desks to help with this. Make sure you are getting up enough at work and taking walks around to increase your brain activity.

Day 37

P90X3 Day 37 Triometrics workout today. The workout is mostly lower body. There a few push-ups in there. Lots of one leg squatting type moves. Each exercise is done for 1 minute with 3 variations. Easy, Medium and Hard. So each level is 20 seconds or you can just stick with 1 variation depending on your fitness level.

Are you eating high quality calories? When you are cutting calories this is extremely important. If you are eating cinnamon rolls for breakfast it isn’t going to fuel your body as well as a salad, fruit or vegetables. If you are cutting calories to lose weight than this is really important because if you are eating garbage you won’t have any energy. Stick with things like spinach, lean proteins, salmon, chicken, eggs, blueberries, walnuts, other fruits and vegetables.

Day 38

P90X3 Day 38 X3 Yoga today. Still an awesome workout even though it’s on each week of the schedule. I think I’m getting better.

There was a study conducted about 20 years ago about people that had lost their jobs 3 times. They noticed that they were better off then those that had never lost their job. This is because they had failed again and gotten back up on their feet so they were more resilient.

By failing and failing again you are actually in a better place then those that never failed and had an easy time reaching success. By learning from your mistakes in your transformation you are actually better for it because you know where you went wrong and if you hit any bumps in the road you know what to do to get past them..

Day 39

P90X3 Day 39 Eccentric Lower today! Great lower body workout with squats, lunges, one legged balance exercises as well. Doubled my weights today. Pushing a little harder this week.

Attitudes have the power to either bring you up or bring you down. It is the greatest influence. You can have tonnes of talent, experience or education but attitude will either make you or break you. Most people get fired because of their attitudes. If you find you are around people with a constant bad attitude start spending time with the people that have great attitudes.

Day 40

P90X3 Incinerator on Day 40. That means 50 days to go. Almost half way there. Pumped up from this workout. Pushups, pullups, rows, renegade rows. About 18 different exercises in this workout.

I was reading the “The Difference Maker” by John C. Maxwell. He talks about when to make decisions. The key is to make decisions at the top of the mountain rather than the valley. This means make decisions when you are in a positive state rather than negative. You’ll make better decisions. Just like when you grocery shop when you are hungry. You’re down in the valley and likely to buy some junk food. If you just ate and are full you are more likely to buy the healthy foods that you went to the store for in the first place.

Day 41

I dislocated my shoulder last night so decided to take a rest day today!

Day 42

P90X3 MMX workout today on Day 42. This was yesterday’s workout. Took yesterday off because I dislocated my shoulder (not from the workout) on Friday.

Did a modified version today. Still an awesome workout. I was thinking of using other workout programs to substitute in the days that are upper body focused but since there are so many workouts in P90X3 I decided to stick with it and sub in dynamix, Pilates and other lower focused workouts into the schedule.

Just reading Tony Horton’s new book that talks about Physical, Mental, Emotional and how you have to be well rounded and have all of these to be the best “YOU”. Many people either focus on physical, or mental, or emotional but the ones that are the most successful will have all.

Going to continue on next week with workouts that focus on lower body so I can continue with P90X3 while I rehab my shoulder.
