P90X3 Review – 30 Minute Workout for Extreme Results

I recently purchased the P90X3 Workout Program from Beachbody on December 10, 2013. It’s an Extreme Fitness Accelerated program. Yes.. I was so excited I had to purchase it on the first day it came out. After completing Focus T25 I was kind of spoiled so I was looking for another short workout.

I was kind of shocked when I found out that it includes 16 different workouts that are each 30 minutes. I had expected a lot less.

What is P90X3?

P90X3 workout program is the 3rd edition of the popular P90X and P90X2 workout programs. This program focuses on extreme efficiency. It uses the term Muscle Acceleration.

Who is it for?

It is for anyone that wants an awesome physical challenge with minimal time requirements. It’s for people of all fitness levels that want to get in the best shape of their lives in only 30 minutes a day.

How long is each P90X3 Workout?

The workouts are each 30 minutes with an optional cold start workout of 12 minutes. Most of the cool downs for the workouts are about 1-5 minutes added on to the 30 min workout.

Is 30 Minutes still Effective?

There are many studies showing that the most dramatic part of a body transformation happens in the first 30 minutes of the workout. The test group was put through the program and on average the participants lost over a third of their body fat. These results were in only 30 minutes a day.

What do I need?

For this program you’ll need a set of dumbbells. Dumbbells for men ranging from 5 to 50 lbs and women from 5 to 25 lbs. You can alternatively use a set of resistance bands. A pull up bar or an attachment for hanging resistance bands. A yoga or other mat for jumping and lowering the impact if you have a hard floor. A good set of cross training shoes. Running shoes won’t cut it here.

What if I haven’t completed P90X or P90X2?

P90X3 is a separate program from the previous P90X and P90X2 not a more difficult version. The P90X3 program offers modifications for the exercises so there is no problem if you haven’t completed one of the previous programs. The P90X3 workout program is actually a great point to start at if you are entering into doing the P90X programs. Either way it works whether you’ve previously done the other programs or not.

What can I Expect?

You can expect the workouts to be INTENSE and there to be a VARIETY. There are a variety of different exercises and workouts in this program that will keep your body guessing. Each week you’ll be doing a variety of different types of workouts.

You’ll be sore the first week so choose the weights and modifications not just copying what they are doing in the videos. Take it easy, get used to the movements and gradually work your way up.

What is included in the package?
