I purchased Focus T25 in the summer of 2013 when it was first released. I’ve never been a fan of cardio workouts and I’m even less of a fan of cardio machines. The reason that I was drawn to this workout is because of the promise of 1 hour results in only 25 minutes.
I started the workouts in July, completed the 10 weeks and advanced on to the 4 weeks gamma workouts (additional add-on). Even though I’m not a fan of cardio I found the 25 minutes doable. I would get up early and complete the workouts before the kids got up. It’s amazing how accomplished you feel getting your workout out of the way first thing in the morning. You won’t know until you try it.

What is Focus T25?
Basically, Focus T25 is an at home workout program that you can do in 25 minutes a day. The program was created by fitness expert Shawn T. You may have seen him in the Insanity or Hip Hop Abs videos. The routines are fast paced, filled with dynamic, hi-intensity moves designed for efficiency and effectiveness.

Who is it for?
This program is for anyone that wants to get in great shape. It’s for busy people that don’t have time for the gym and just want to fit a quick workout into their busy schedule.
The program can be used by any fitness level. There is always a modifier on screen that will show you the lower impact moves for anyone that is still a beginner or doesn’t want to be jumping as much. The exercises are still effective. Honestly, sometimes when I get tired I start following the modifier.
How long does it take?
Just like it says. It’s 25 minutes. There is a cool down after the workout that is added time but I think the longest on is 3 minutes. Allow for 30 minutes and you should be good to go. It’s still a pretty short workout. The workouts are scheduled 6 days a week. Monday to Thursday have one workout scheduled and Friday is known as doubles. Saturday is a rest day and Sunday is a stretch workout.
Some people are put off by the 2 workouts on Friday. You can do them back to back or one in the morning and the other at night. What I actually did was complete the first workout Friday and did the second one on Saturday. That’s an option that you can use if you don’t have the time on Friday.
Is a 25 minute effective?
There are studies that have shown that 30 minutes of exercises can be just as effective as 60 minutes. What tends to happen is people pace themselves at the beginning of a 60 minute workout. As the workout goes on they will tend to increase the intensity as they get closer to the end. That’s why many people are saying “why not just start with a high intensity and do a shorter workout”.
What equipment do I need?
For the base kit which is the ALPHA and BETA cycles: You get the b-lines resistance band with you package so no other equipment is required. You can also use dumbbells as well. The people in the videos will show you how to do each variation.
GAMMA cycle: They recommend a chin-up bar and chin-up max. I didn’t use these. I just followed the modifier which uses bands or dumbbells.
What can I expect from this workout?
You can expect to work hard but only for 25 minutes. You may be a little sore at first but that’s just another reason to follow the modifier when you start out. The workouts do not contain any breaks so if you need to take an extra breath you can always push pause. Just keep PUSHING PLAY!
What are the workouts like?
The alpha cycle is the foundation and is scheduled for the first 5 weeks of the program.
Cardio – Interval training cardio workout.
Speed 1.0 – A mix of cardio intervals with stretching moves.
Total Body Circuit – Total body workout with different type of plank and push up moves.
Lower Focus – A lower body cardio workout using a variety of lunges and squats.
Ab Intervals – This is a mix of abdominal exercises that are standing and on the floor.
The beta cycle focuses on working your core and is scheduled for the last 5 weeks of the 10 week program.
Core Cardio – A cardio workout that focuses on your core.
Speed 2.0 – Kind of like speed 1.0 with more speed drills. You can also sub in the bonus workout as well.
Rip’t Circuit – This circuit workout moves from cardio, to upper body, to legs and then abs.
Dynamic Core – This workout uses both standing and floor core work.
Upper Focus – Workout your upper body with the resistance bands or dumbbells.
Bonus workout: Core Speed is a fast agility workout.
